Boeser stole the puck from forward Carlsson at the Canucks' blue line then raced in alone and beat Dostal with a forehand deke.

Just 37 seconds after Boeser's goal, Gauthier scored his second of the game and 40th of the season, beating Tolopilo with a slap shot to the short side on a power play to cut the Canucks' lead to 3-2.

Carlson redeemed himself, after the miscue on the Canucks' third goal, by scoring on a backhand at 6:56 of the third to tie it 3-3 and set the stage for overtime.

Rookie big man Joan Beringer scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and the Minnesota Timberwolves held on for a 132-126 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night in Minneapolis.

Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 26 points for Minnesota (49-33), which relied on young players and reserves in its final game of the regular season. Zyon Pullin scored 19 points off the bench, and Joe Ingles capitalized on a rare start to notch a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.

Jeremiah Fears scored 36 points on 12-for-29 shooting to lead New Orleans (26-56). Derik Queen finished with 30 points and 22 rebounds, and Micah Peavy scored 21 points.

The Timberwolves already were locked into the No. 6 playoff seed in the Western Conference. They learned they will face the Denver Nuggets, who secured the No. 3 seed by beating the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night.

The Timberwolves led by double digits late in the game and held on for the win.

Beringer made a pair of free throws to put Minnesota on top 124-114 with 1:21 to go. Fears followed by converting a three-point play and trimming the Pelicans' deficit to seven points with 1:15 left.

Queen made a layup on New Orleans' next possession to pull the team within 125-119 with 55.2 seconds left. But the Timberwolves held firm thanks to Shannon's free-throw shooting; he made 7 of 8 in the final minute.

Minnesota led 73-59 at the half. Julian Phillips made an alley-oop dunk off a feed from Jaylen Clark in the closing moments of the first half.

Both teams played without key starters in the regular-season finale.

The Timberwolves sat out top scorer Anthony Edwards, who dealt with right knee inflammation in the final few weeks of the regular season. They also played without Jaden McDaniels (left knee injury maintenance), Rudy Gobert (rest), Julius Randle (right hand injury maintenance), Naz Reid (right shoulder injury maintenance) and Ayo Dosunmu (right calf injury maintenance).

New Orleans rested Herbert Jones and Saddiq Bey. They also did not have veteran big man Zion Williamson, who missed the regular-season finale because of right knee injury management.

The Los Angeles Clippers sent a message to their play-in opponent Sunday night, riding Bennedict Mathurin's 20 points and a stingy defense to a 115-110 home win over the Golden State Warriors in what turned out to be an otherwise meaningless regular-season finale.

The victory allowed the Clippers (42-40) to tie the Portland Trail Blazers (42-40) for eighth place in the Western Conference, but Portland earned a tie-breaker by virtue of a better conference record after thumping the Sacramento Kings 122-110 in their finale.

That relegated the Clippers to ninth place for play-in purposes, where they'll get a home game Wednesday against 10th-place Golden State (37-45). The loser will be eliminated from playoff contention.

While the Warriors played all their healthy guys except Draymond Green in a play-in tune-up, the Clippers managed to outfinish the visitors despite resting Kawhi Leonard.

The clubs were tied at 81-all before Jordan Miller gave Los Angeles the lead for good on a buzzer-beating layup at the end of the third quarter.

Nicolas Batum and Bogdan Bogdanovic then combined for three 3-pointers in the first three minutes of the final period, extending the Clippers' lead to 96-85. The Warriors got no closer than the final margin after that.

John Collins backed Mathurin with 18 points for the Clippers, who captured the season series 3-1 over Golden State, winning both home games. Mathurin and Collins each collected a game-high nine rebounds, while Mathurin also found time for a game-high eight assists.

Bogdanovic, who sunk five of eight 3-pointers, finished with 17 points. Darius Garland tallied 15, Miller added 14 and Kobe Sanders produced 11 for Los Angeles.

In just his third game after missing 27 straight with a sore right knee, Stephen Curry paced Golden State with a game-high 24 points in 29 minutes. He connected on four of his nine 3-point attempts.

The Warriors shot just 11 of 39 (28.2%) from beyond the arc.

Charles Bassey added 16 points, Kristaps Porzingis registered 12 and Brandin Podziemski scored 10 for the Warriors, who finished the regular season with seven losses in their last eight games. Porzingis was Golden State's leading rebounder with eight.

Denver's Nikola Jokic scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 18-plus minutes of court time -- all in the first half -- as the visiting Nuggets rolled to a 128-118 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday in the regular-season finale for both playoff-bound teams.

The Nuggets (54-28) clinched the third seed in Western Conference and will host sixth-seeded Minnesota for the first two games of their best-of-seven first-round playoff series either April 18 or 19. Denver ended the regular season with 12 straight wins and took three of the four games against the Spurs this year.

Jokic played the necessary minutes to reach the league's 65-game threshold for postseason award consideration. That game total also allowed Jokic to become the first player in NBA history to lead in both rebounds per game (12.9) and assists per game (10.7).

Victor Wembanyama sat out the game for San Antonio, which already clinched the No. 2 spot in the West and had little to gain from Sunday's game. The Spurs will host the winner of Tuesday's 7/8 play-in tournament game between Phoenix and Portland in the opening two contests of a best-of-seven first-round playoffs series on either April 18 or 19.

The Spurs had a three-game winning streak snapped but finished the campaign with a 62-20 mark, their best since the 2015-16 season in which they won 67 games.

Julian Strawther had 25 points to lead the Nuggets, with Jonas Valanciunas adding 16 points and 11 rebounds, David Roddy amassing 15 points and 13 rebounds, Bruce Brown scoring 14 points, Curtis Jones hitting for 13 and Jalen Pickett tallying 11.

De'Aaron Fox paced the Spurs with 24 points. Devin Vassell added 19, Keldon Johnson had 18, Carter Bryant scoring 13, Harrison Barnes 12 and Stephon Castle finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.

Jokic played all 12 minutes of the first quarter, scoring 12 points and taking seven rebounds to help the Nuggets establish a 37-34 lead at the end of the period. Denver pushed its advantage to 23 points with 3:02 to play in the second quarter before the Spurs pulled to within 70-56 at the break.

The Nuggets also got 16 points from Strawther in the first half and Jones scored 13. San Antonio got 15 points from Vassell and 14 from Fox.

The Spurs tried to get back in game, drawing to within nine points in the third quarter and to 101-95 after a Bryant layup with 11:14 left in the game. But Denver's reserve players had enough in the tank to finish off the win.
