Report: Drexel players in trouble with the law

New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Post is reporting that two Drexel University basketball players are facing robbery and weapons charges after allegedly burglarizing a student's apartment last week.

According to the report, 21-year-olds Jamie Harris and Kevin Phillip turned themselves into authorities Monday morning. A warrant had been put out for the pairs' arrest over the weekend after they allegedly pointed a gun at a female student Wednesday night. Philadelphia police indicated the duo was searching for money but instead left with two cell phones.

Devon Bond, a third Drexel student, was arrested last Thursday and was believed to have hatched the plot thinking there would be money available in the residence.

Bond apparently knocked on the door and asked to speak to the male roommate of the female student who answered the door.

Upon leaving, Bond propped the door open and returned shortly thereafter with the two players, who were brandishing handguns. One of the players forced Bond to the ground to make it appear as if he was being targeted in the robbery, as well.

Harris was the team's point guard and leading scorer last season, averaging 14.5 points per game and 3.4 assists per contest as he played in all 32 of the Dragons' games. His lawyer has denied the allegations.

Phillip played in 31 games last season and averaged 2.9 points and 3.1 rebounds.
